honestly, this is probably the first item of this nature he's ever received, and so he's kind of glad he hadn't done this in person.
more than feeling any real sense of gratitude (not that it didn't exist in theory...), he mostly just feels awkward. aren't there things like that? things that are so unfamiliar that you almost don't know to process them?
besides, he didn't necessarily like thinking of someone as his elder. wasn't that just a burden? it's like if he had to think of son ohgong as an elder... ]
