she falls silent at his words, looking down on their shared meal. it sure did sound too confident coming from him, but he must be speaking from experience as well. a wealth of experience, what with the things he'd told her about his adventure in the tower thus far.
she picks up one of the xiao long bao, piercing through the skin with her chopsticks to put some ginger into it, giving it a few puffs before tentatively sipping the broth. ]

he's noticed that even when he speaks with unfounded conviction, she doesn't seem to think to doubt him. she doesn't refute his words, and he can also see where she does her best in interpreting whatever he says. at times like this, he's grateful for ishmael being able to read between the lines without prying.
it's probably why this trust must be mutual.
while he's had some time to think of whom they've all inevitably lost, whether in death, or in the frequent but unexplained "glitches"— he takes comfort in this one moment. ... and it's not just because of the food he may or may not been craving, either. ]
Then eat a lot and regain your energy. [ maybe it's his own way of trying to cheer her up, even if it's kind of clear he's not very good at it. either way, he does understand her point. he knows how much it stings to be forgotten, even with how apathetic he may appear on the surface.
so even if he doesn't say it out loud, he does think he wouldn't forget her, rodya, or anyone else so easily, either. ]
